Top Ten Contributors to California Propositions

Through October 19, 2002

The tables below identify the contributors who have given the most money to support or oppose propositions on California's November, 2002 ballot. Each table also features summaries of total amounts raised and spent, as well as cash on-hand.

Important Note: The top ten donors listed below are current through October 19, 2002. Information about donations made since that date is available on the Secretary of State's Cal-Access web site in the "late contributions and interim filings" section.

The figures below were compiled from disclosure reports filed by proposition campaign committees with the Secretary of State. In some cases there is more than one committee supporting or opposing a proposition, and in such cases the summary and top ten lists reflect the combined disclosure figures.

Numbers below include cash contributions, loans and non-monetary contributions. Contributor information includes ID numbers for political committees, and occupation and employer information for individuals, where available. Any revisions or corrections to the figures in the tables will be noted at the bottom of the page.

As of October 19, there were four committees that did not file campaign finance reports electronically because they had not reached the threshold of $50,000 raised toward their campaigns; those committees have raised either no money, or have raised less than $50,000, and and are not included in these figures.

For more information about CVF's "Follow the Money" projects, please visit our Follow the Money web page. Complete our feedback form if you have questions or comments about this research.

For more information about each proposition, including official summaries, campaign contact information, links to campaign web sites and pro and con arguments, please follow the "more information" links at the bottom of each table, or visit the proposition index page of this voter guide.

* A committee that supports both propositions 46 and 47 raised $1,464,808; in making our calculations for the Total Raised figure, we subtracted that amount so that the money wasn't double-counted -- that's why our Total Raised figure is $1,464,808 less than the total you would get if you added up all of the numbers in the second column above.
