Click here The tables below identify the contributors who have given the most in support of or in opposition to California propositions on the March, 2000 ballot. Each table also features a summary of total amounts raised as of 3/7/00 and total amounts spent, and cash on-hand as of 2/19/00. These figures reflect total contributions received by each ballot measure campaign beginning from the time the campaigns were first organized through March 7, 2000. The figures were compiled from disclosure reports filed by proposition campaign committees with the Secretary of State. In some cases there is more than one committee supporting or opposing a proposition, and in such cases the summary and top ten lists reflect the combined disclosure figures. The latest disclosure reports cover the period January 23rd through February 19th, 2000. In addition, late contribution reports were required for contributions in excess of $1000 received between February 19 and March 7, 2000. These late contributions are included in the figures below. Not included are contributions smaller than $1000 received after February 19th. Final campaign finance figures will be disclosed after August 1st, 2000. Figures below include cash contributions, loans and non-monetary contributions. Contributor information includes ID numbers for political committees and occupation and employer information for individuals. Notes:

1. The reason the No on Prop 29 amount raised figure is so much higher than the amount spent figure, is that the amount raised is made up of mostly non-monetary contributions. These types of contributions are now also reported as expenditures on the form used by campaigns to report campaign finance activity, however that was not the case in 1998 when the No on Prop 29 money was raised. Also, the contributors listed above in the against Proposition 29 column were previously listed incorrectly as supporters of the proposition. The confusion was due to the fact that the Agua Caliente Tribe and the other donors listed originally raised money to place the referendum on the ballot, and their early reports show them as supporters of the referendum. However, once the referendum qualified, the tribe and the other donors became the opponents of Proposition 29, because they seek to overturn the law that they placed before voters for approval or disapproval as Proposition 29.
