About the Propositions
California's November ballot includes nine statewide propositions, 19 through 27, also called ballot measures. Propositions are assigned numbers by the Secretary of State, and require a simple majority to pass.

Prop. 19: would legalize, tax and regulate marijuana

Prop. 20: would have the Citizens Redistricting Commission draw congressional district lines instead of the Legislature

Prop. 21: would enact a vehicle fee to help fund state parks

Prop. 22: would restrict state access to local government proceeds

Prop. 23: would suspend Assembly Bill 32, a law enacted to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, until the unemployment rate drops to 5.5 percent

Prop. 24: would repeal legislation that enacted corporate tax credits

Prop. 25: would change the legislative vote requirement for passing the state budget from two-thirds to a majority

Prop. 26: would change the legislative vote requirement for enacting new fees from a majority to two-thirds

Prop. 27: would eliminate the Citizens Redistricting Commission and return the redistricting process to the Legislature
