Los Angeles Mayoral Election

About This Election

On Tuesday, May 17, 2005, voters in the city of Los Angeles will head to the polls to cast ballots in a general municipal election. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. This election is being held since no mayoral candidate received a majority of the votes (50%+1) during the March primary nominating election. A runoff contest is also being held in council district 11. Los Angeles mayors are elected to a four-year term. The elected candidate will fill the position from July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2009.

If you are unsure of your voter registration status or don't know your polling place, contact the Los Angeles election office. For more information about voting in California, see CVF's Voting FAQ.
