Nonpartisan web site helps voters understand election choices
Calvoter.org launches new “California Online Voter Guide”
Sacramento, CA – California voters looking for a reliable resource to help them sort out their ballot choices this Fall can turn to www.calvoter.org, and its new, nonpartisan California Online Voter Guide.
The new guide was published today by the California Voter Foundation (CVF) and covers all federal and state races on California ballots along with the eleven state propositions.
“This election voters are facing a number of difficult choices,” said Kim Alexander, CVF’s editor and founder. “The California Online Voter Guide is a great starting point for voters wanting to access trustworthy information about candidates and measures.”
The guide features every presidential, congressional and legislative candidate, including their web site and email addresses. Also included are political district maps and links to top donors and news coverage of the eleven propositions.
Other valuable voter resources include a Voting FAQ, covering topics such as voting by mail and registering to vote, a directory of county election offices that includes direct links to online tools voters can use to verify their registration status and tips on how to “follow the money”.
Several hotly-debated measures will appear on the November 6th ballot, covering topics such as the death penalty, the state’s three strikes law, genetically modified foods, and taxes. CVF’s online guide links voters directly to the information and resources they need to understand their choices, providing convenient access to timely, nonpartisan information.
“We know voters are busy and looking for reliable online information that can help them make informed decisions,” Alexander said. “We’re happy to provide it at www.calvoter.org.”
First launched in 1994, this election’s California Online Voter Guide is the 22nd edition CVF has produced and published. The California Voter Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization working to improve the voting process to better serve voters. CVF’s 2012 voter outreach projects are supported by the Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation.
