Redistricting Reform: a new resource at www.calvoter.org
July 01, 2009
Hi everyone,
I'm pleased to announce that the California's Voter Foundation's web site now features a new resource -- Redistricting Reform is a new section of our site focused on successful implementation of Proposition 11, an initiative passed by voters last November that requires, for the first time in California's history, state political district lines to be drawn by a new Citizens Redistricting Commission rather than the State Legislature.
The new Redistricting Reform section features important information about Proposition 11, including the text of the measure, news articles, links to the State Auditor's implementation web site, historic and current political district maps, links to other organizations focused on redistricting and more.
FYI, A crucial stage of the process is fast approaching, which is the release of regulations drafted by the State Auditor's office that will guide and govern the commission's application and selection process. The draft regulations are due to be posted to the Office of Administrative Law's web site on July 24.
Below is the text from the Redistricting Reform homepage - I hope you have a chance to check it out and let us know what you think!
Wishing you and yours a happy and safe 4th of July holiday,
- Kim Alexander
