Sheila Kuehl on the Environment

"Protecting the Environment -- As a member of the State Assembly, Sheila Kuehl has an A-rated voting record on environmental legislation. The California League of Conservation Voters rated her 94% in 1995, 100% in 1996, 100% in 1997 and 100% in 1998. But her voting record tells only half the story.

Kuehl has been a tenacious and effective protector of the Santa Monica Mountains and the Santa Monica Bay - one of a handful in Sacramento who moves the environmental agenda forward. Kuehl has authored or co-authored dozens of critical pro-environment bills, and has been a key player in California's important ecological battles such cleaning up storm-water runoff, challenging the Ahmanson Ranch development, helping to furnish the Backbone Trail through the Capra property exchange, fighting Ward Valley and MTBE contamination and aiding the Tapia water treatment facility to name a few."
