New California Map Series Debuts

Davis, CA -- Today the California Voter Foundation announced the debut of the "California Map Series", featuring maps of all of California's new legislative and congressional districts. The collection includes 245 maps in all and is available free to the public online at:

"We produced the California Map Series to give the public a better understanding of the districts where we live and vote," said CVF president Kim Alexander. "This year voters are casting ballots in newly-drawn political districts. CVF's district maps provide a clear picture of each district's boundaries and general location to help familiarize voters with their new districts."

CVF's political district maps include 53 congressional district maps, 80 State Assembly district maps and 40 State Senate district maps. District maps feature county names and boundaries, cities, freeways, schools and other landmarks that help locate district boundaries. Statewide and regional maps of California's political districts are also featured in the series, along with maps of California's 58 counties.

The series also includes a newly designed "Map of California Regions" which names and identifies eleven regions in the state. "CVF's new regional map is designed to build greater awareness of California's varied regions," Alexander said. "Maps have long been one of the most popular features on our web site. We hope our new California Map Series will serve as a valued public resource for years to come."

Support for the California Map Series was provided by The James Irvine Foundation. The California Voter Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization advancing new technology to improve democracy. More information about CVF is available online at http://www.calvoter.org.
