Fall 2002 California Online Voter Guide Unveiled at www.calvoter.org

Election guide packed with nonpartisan information for voters

Davis -- With six months to go before this November's General election, the California Voter Foundation (CVF) released the ninth edition of its award-winning, nonpartisan California Online Voter Guide today. Designed to give voters the tools they need to make informed, confident decisions in the voting booth, the guide is available online at:

"In addition to featuring information on statewide propositions and candidates for statewide, legislative and congressional office in California, we're pleased that this year's guide also features innovative election projects such as CVF's Initiative Watch and the Archive of Campaign Promises," said Saskia Mills, CVF executive director and co-editor of the California Online Voter Guide. Other popular features include "Follow the Money", which helps voters track donors to candidates and proposition campaigns, a voting technology resource section, and a rich collection of California politics and government links.

"What you won't find in the guide is important too," said Kim Alexander, president of CVF and co-editor of the guide. "CVF's election web site doesn't contain advertising and doesn't require cookies or registration to use. We created the guide keeping in mind that people are busy, and we're offering voters a simple, well-designed web site that's comprehensive, yet easy to navigate." The CVF staff will continue to build and update the site throughout the 2002 election season.

The California Online Voter Guide, which CVF has produced on the Internet since 1994, has over the years become an essential election resource for both voters and journalists. During the 2000 election, CVF's web site logged over 800,000 visits and more than 1.4 million page views. The site has been nominated for a prestigious Webby Award this year, its third nomination for that award. The Webby Award recognizes outstanding web sites based on content, structure and navigation, visual design, functionality, interactivity, and overall experience. CVF's web site won the Webby Award in the Politics and Law category in 1999.
