CALIFORNIA VOTER FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES
NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR

The California Voter Foundation is happy to announce the hiring of its new Managing Director, Saskia Mills.

Mills comes to CVF after two and a half years with Project Vote Smart, a national, non-profit, non-partisan voter information organization headquartered in Corvallis, Oregon.

A native Californian, Saskia was raised in the Sacramento Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated from U.C.Davis with a degree in Political Science-Public Service and History. She brings to the organization experience with non-profit and political organizations at the local, state and national levels, as well as a background and longtime interest in the California political scene.

ãIâm thrilled to be joining the staff of an organization that has had such a positive effect on politics in California,ä Mills said. ãCVF has clearly played a major role in enhancing the democratic process in this state, and Iâm looking forward to being a part of this continuing effort to make participation in politics a more meaningful and rewarding experience for everyone involved.ä

As Managing Director, Mills will work with CVFâs President, Kim Alexander, to implement the organizationâs programs and plans for expansion. Specifically, she will be working on developing, publicizing and promoting the California Online Voter Guide and Easy Reading Voter Guide, handling human resource needs and managing the office, supervising CVF interns, assisting with fundraising activities, and helping to design CVFâs forthcoming membership program.

CVF first announced its new managing director position in late January, 1998. More than 60 people applied for the job, which was profiled as ãDream Jobä in Wired Magazineâs Hotwired web site. ãSaskia has both the experience and enthusiasm needed to work for an organization like CVF. She was our top choice for the position, and we were thrilled when she accepted the offer,ä Alexander said. ãWith her assistance, I am confident that we will be able to achieve great success in our programs and organizational growth. I hope all of CVFâs friends and supporters will join me in welcoming Saskia.ä
