RE: Smithsonian, Greens & CFP '99
Hi Folks,
I'm writing today from DC, where I'm attending the 9th annual Computers, Freedom and Privacy Conference. It's a fascinating mix of people and issues, and if you're in the DC area, try to drop by and attend a session or two -- the full agenda is online at http://www.cfp99.org, and the conference concludes Thursday evening, April 8th.
In Other News....Green Party candidate Audie Bock was sworn in to office on Monday, representing the 16th Assembly District in Oakland. She defeated former Democratic Assembly member and Oakland mayor Elihu Harris, who spent $400,000 to her $20,000. Bock's victory is nothing short of historic, and I'm in the midst of writing an analysis on the race which I plan to share with CVF-NEWS subscribers in the near future.
Finally, the biggest announcement of all: The California Voter Foundation's web site is being inducted into the Smithsonian's permanent research collection! Read the news release we issued today for more details about the Smithsonian's program. I'll be participating in the ceremony to induct the collection on Monday, April 12. This is a public event and everyone is welcome, so if you are planning to be in the DC area then, please feel free to drop by 9:30 a.m. at the National Mall, 1000 Jefferson Drive, SW.
Have a great week!
