TO: CVF-NEWS FROM: Kim Alexander, CVF President DATE: March 7, 2000 RE: Live Election Returns Via www.calvoter.org
Hi Folks,
Well, the big day has finally arrived and I don't know about you, but I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see how this election turns out! Thanks to the Net, the Secretary of State, and many county election offices, we'll be able to view live election returns for California online tonight, starting after the polls close at 8 p.m.
We have added an Election Results page to our voter guide, which links to the state and local government web sites offering official returns online. To view the returns, follow the link from our voter guide homepage at:This page links you to the returns that will be posted online by the Secretary of State as well as the 35 California counties offering live returns. (FYI, the direct link to the Secretary of State's returns is http://Vote2000.ss.ca.gov.)
For online returns from other states, I'd suggest visiting some of the network news sites, like www.cnn.com or www.abcnews.com.
Given our past experiences with election night on the Web, you can expect that there will be huge traffic online tonight, so please be patient! If our site or the Secretary of State's site is slow-going when you are looking for returns, you might wait and try again a little later.
Here's hoping for a great turnout today,
Kim Alexander, CVF President
