State and federal money is being invested through companies that not only
tolerate but encourage sexual harassment, racial discrimination, and
which have no respect for the rights of their workers. Jan Tucker wants
to put a stop to that practice.
When employees at Countrywide Mortgage, a home mortgage lender which
receives public funds for various loan programs, protested sexual
harassment or racial discrimination, instead of getting justice, they got
more harassment, culminating in either their termination or being forced
to quit.
California should not be a party to that kind of management!
If Jan Tucker is elected treasurer, he will set up an advisory panel
consisting of representatives labor unions, human rights and civil
liberties organizations, environmental groups, and consumer protection
organizations to lay out guidelines for which companies will be
ineligible to receive State Treasury money, because of their socially
irresponsible behavior. Companies that destroy the environment, move
jobs out of California, and treat their employees like dirt will no
longer receive your money.
