Gloria La Riva, Peace and Freedom Candidate for Governor to join rally opposing the immigrant bashing SOS Initiative (Prop. 187) and in support of freedom and democracy in Mexico.

Who: Gloria La Riva, Peace and Freedom Candidate for Governor

Where: US/Mexico Border - Tijuana/San Ysidro

When: Saturday August 20, 1994, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

"I'm going to the border on August 20 to join with the courageous anti-racist Californians who will be taking a stand against anti-immigrant attacks," said Gloria La Riva ; Peace and Freedom Candidate for Governor. "The racist immigrant-bashing embodied in Proposition 187 attempts to pit Californians against each other based on race and will result in a system of South African style apartheid," she continued.

La Riva, who attended the Zapatista National Democratic Convention in the Lacandon jungle of Chiapas, Mexico last week, also strongly supports the Mexican people's struggle for freedom and democracy as embodied in courageous rebellion of the Zapatistas in Chiapas.

Gloria La Riva is running for Governor as the candidate of the Peace and Freedom Party. La Riva's campaign focuses on her support of the Single Payer Health Care Initiative, taxing big business to create a massive jobs program and her strong opposition to the misnamed "Save our State" which would deny public education and medical treatment to undocumented immigrants. She also opposes "Three Strikes, You're Out" and supports jobs and education, not more prisons.
