About Calvoter.org
Section 508
The California Voter Foundation (CVF) is committed to creating accessible web sites for all web users. To ensure compliance, CVF has tested calvoter.org with the Bobby Section 508 test.
All CVF pages and project web sites created as of February 2004 are in compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards. On the other hand, due to the enormous amount of archived information on calvoter.org, any project web sites created prior to February 2004 will not be converted to comply with Section 508.
XHTML & CSS
The California Voter Foundation supports the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) web standards. Web pages created as of February 2004 validate according to recommendations made by the W3C. XHTML 1.0 transitional and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) 2 allow CVF to better support a wide range of modern browsers, update web designs for easier user navigation, and support browsers for disabled users.
Browser Support
In order to take advantage of the new CVF designs please upgrade your browser to any CSS 2 compliant browser including, Internet Explorer 6 for Windows, Internet Explorer 5 for Macintosh, Netscape 7, Opera 6 or above, Mozilla 1 or above, Firefox, Konqueror, and Safari 1 or above. CSS 2 compliant web browsers are available on a majority of computer platforms including Windows, Macintosh and Linux.
Users of older browsers (such as Netscape 4 or Internet Explorer 4) will display a design more similar to that of a text-only browser. Internet Explorer 5 for Windows will display a majority of the content on calvoter.org as intended, but upgrading to Internet Explorer 6 is highly recommended. Internet Explorer 6 will run on any Pentium-class computer with at least Windows 98. Internet Explorer 5 for the Macintosh does not have the same display issues. CVF has tested calvoter.org with the Lynx text-only web browser.
